Bowood House, home of the Marquis and Marchioness of Lansdowne, designed by
Robert Adam in the 18th Century.
This stately home stands in one of Capability Brown’s most beautiful parks with
sloping lawns stretching away from the House to the lake beyond. The gardens
within this 100 acre park include the Cascade Waterfall, a 40 acre lake, the
Doric Temple, the pinetum, an arboretum and the terraced rose garden.
There is also a separate garden of 50 acres of spectacular rhododendron walks
which open mid April to early June.
Bowood House & Gardens closes during the winter and re-opens
Wednesday April 1st 2009.
