The Shoe Museum history of Clark’s shoes in Street, Somerset
The Shoe Museum is situated in the High Street, in Street Somerset, the museum contains a collection of footwear from Roman times to the present day, together with some shoemaking machinery.
You can see a display of shoes, buckles, fashion plates, showcards and hand tools,there are many shoe brands, documents and photographs showing the history of the Clark family and its connection with the development of shoemaking in the 19th century in Street.
There are some old Clarks television adverts, films on shoemaking and the story of Clarks are shown on dvd in the Museum Reception area.
The Museum is open 10.00 to 4.45 weekdays but closed on Bank Holidays and over the Christmas/New Year period.
