Home to medieval herbalist Henry Lyte - Enchanting manor house in the depths of rural Somerset
Tudor great hall and 14th-century chapel

The manor exhibits Henry Lyte’s famous 16th-century plant directory, ’Lytes Herbal’. The Arts & Crafts style garden was replanted to form ’rooms’ with topiary and colourful herbaceous borders.

The medieval manor house and delightful 14th-century chapel and 15th century Great Hall, much added to in the 16th century and rescued from dereliction in the 20th century by Sir Walter Jenner. The interiors were refurnished in period style and are complemented by the attractive hedged garden with mixed borders and hidden paths are enclosed by high yew topiary hedges.
