The Georgian House Museum

The Georgian House was built for John Pinney, a West India merchant in 1790. Pero his slave also lived here and the interior is displayed as it might have been in the 18th century and provides a lifelike insight into life above and below stairs.
Inside there are 11 rooms which are spread over four floors and include the basement with the kitchen, housekeeper’s room, pantry and John Pinney’s cold water plunge pool. Visitors can also visit the formal rooms including John Pinney’s office, two dining rooms, a Library and two drawing rooms and a small exhibition on the Pinney’s involvement in the sugar trade and John Pinney’s slave, Pero.
